Cornell Hockey Update/Racker vs. BigRed

July 6, 2020, Ithaca, NY – Coach Schafer’s comments on prospects for the 2020-21 Season.

  • There have been no updates from the NCAA on the upcoming year. All on/off campus recruiting has been suspended by the NCAA until September 1st. We already have a great start to our class for the fall of 2021 and are excited to put the finishing touches on this group once things start up. The schedule has not been announced because of the uncertainty of what is happening on campuses. Many school are discussing options with regard to winter sports. Schedules will change if teams can’t fly, stay over night, etc., etc. I feel everyone will be waiting until September to have any indication of the future.
  • While we would love to announce season ticket sales, we won’t be able to do that until we have more answers. Decisions can be made once we know what the 2020-21 season looks like.
  • The Racker Rivals Big Red Virtual game is taking place on-line and ends on July 15th. Our team has been connected to the Racker Center for many years beginning with David McKee’s success with “Saves for the Centers” and carried on by Topher Scott’s involvement and coming up with the idea for the event. It has been amazing to see the generosity of players and fans for this important cause. Early childhood intervention is specifically what this event supports. If you are interested in supporting this cause, please help out anyone on Team Red as we are down 28-25 entering the third period of this virtual game. The links below are where you can support the event.
